Conversations With God Book Review – Volume One
Introduction
Conversations With God is a channelled material of God that came through Neale Donald Walsch. Neale was frustrated with his whole life and he considered himself a failure. One day he was extremely unhappy with how things were going so he decided to write an angry letter to God.
To his surprise, after he finished his letter, he felt unable to put the pen down. And then he received the first written message from God.
Out of these messages came three books which were read by millions of people all around the globe.
This book helped me understand much more about how we create our reality.
Conversations With God book is very easy to understand, unlike A Course In Miracles, which was also channelled from God. I would go as far as to say that Conversations With God is probably the easiest to understand book ever channelled from God.
This book will break you free from the false doctrines imposed by churches and it will allow you to find your own way to happiness, freedom and personal fulfilment. It will teach you to listen to your own truth and to turn away from the negative influences of people who are unable to find their own paths.
I personally think that this book should be much more trusted than bible. Bible has been changed so many times and some scriptures were destroyed because they weren’t in harmony with what church leaders wanted people to do or how they wanted people to think. The meanings of some holy writings were changed and some new facts were added which portrayed God as capricious, jealous and discriminating.
Bible is disempowering because it portrays people as born in sin and that women are somehow lower than men. Bible makes you think that you are at the mercy of God and that if you are not serving God you will end up in hell. Deep in your heart any person would feel that this is not the case, yet it’s hard to hear your voice of sanity when such thing as the great Bible tells you that you are an unworthy sinner.
The validity of certain Bible facts were directly or indirectly denied not only by the Conversations With God book. Seth material, Esther Hicks and many other books teach that you don’t have to fear God and that there is no such thing as sin. Life is for you to enjoy and you are free to do anything you want. God loves you and doesn’t want you to fear him/her because fear is the opposite of love.
It’s insane to think that God stopped communicating with people a couple of thousand years ago and that the only scriptures that are valid are those of a distant past. I encourage you therefore to read this book with an open mind and heart and see whether the messages resonate with who you are. If this is the case, then try to apply the advice of the Conversations With God book to experience a much more fulfilling and freeing life.
The main concepts of the Conversations With God book
Volume One of the Conversations With God book deals with many personal issues that are of interest to most people. But before we go into the detail of these issues, there are certain notions that need to be addressed for a better understanding of the teachings of the Conversations With God book. Here they are:
There is no right or wrong in the eyes of God. No matter how bad something might seem to you, it may seem completely acceptable to another human being. We all operate differently because of our different world views. So when you see in the review (or book) mentioned that something is right or wrong, it’s all in relation to where we want to go and not what those things are in nature.
*
The purpose of your life is to understand who you really are. You can choose who you want to be because there’s no predetermined ideal concept that you should live up to. That means that your purpose in life is what you choose it to be.
The summary/review of the Conversations With God Volume One
In the volume one of Conversations With God Neale asks God many questions that he wanted to know the answers to all his life. God answers questions fully and in a way that is easy to understand for everyone.
God explains how we create our reality, why our education of children keeps people stuck on the same awareness level, why most people don’t have money and why evil as we know it doesn’t exist.
God explains that the reason people don’t have money is because they think money is unholy. This is shown by how much spiritual teachers earn compared to ballplayers and striptease dancers. People in unholy occupations are paid extreme amounts of money while spiritual teachers and teachers in general remain poor. If a spiritual teacher happens to earn more, people straight away get suspicious of why this is the case. Examples as such show that people associate money with evil and lack of money with goodness. That’s the reason most people are poor.
In truth, everything in this world is holy. Money is holy because it came from God. Only if you love money and think that money is good can you have it. If you think that poor is good and rich is evil, money will always be repelled from you.
In the volume one of Conversations With God he/she also talks about how he/she communicates with everyone. When you pray or you ask something, the answer is always given. Yet if you don’t look for the answer, you will not notice it.
God can use any channel to give you the answer to your question because God made all channels. So when you ask, you might hear the answer in the first line of the movie you watch, the next article you read or the next sentence you hear from your friend. When you ask, therefore, expect to receive the answer and be alert to not miss it.
God says yes to any requests made by people, no matter how right or wrong they may seem. This is because God will never interfere with the free will of people.
In the Conversations With God book God also talks about his appearance. God can take on any appearance he/she wishes. Yet when he/she does, people who see God in such appearance straight away assign such appearance to him/her. That’s how he/she puts it:
Yet when I come in one particular form or another in form which I think people can understand Me people assign Me that form forever more.
So it’s a gross misinterpretation to assign any shape to God because he/she can change shapes or be shapeless if he/she chooses.
People mostly feel ashamed because of what they absorbed from their parents. Most parents teach their children in a way that make them feel unworthy and guilty. Yet everyone is worthy because we are all one, which is God.
This sense of unworthiness harms the relationships people have. When people find someone they love, and they are loved back, they cannot believe that someone could love them. So they test their partners in a way which would prove whether they really love them. If partners pass their love tests, then they start altering their behaviours because they are afraid that their partners will stop loving them. So the whole relationship is based on fear rather than love which makes everyone unhappy.
Yet if a relationship would be formed with real love, there would be no tests or alterations of behaviour. Each partner would be free to do whatever he/she wants and every person would firstly consider himself/herself and not their other halves. This is because if you act out of your highest image about yourself, you will never hurt another person. Only when you act to please someone else do you end up unhappy and make your partner unhappy too.
In the Conversations With God book God teaches that you should only listen to your own feelings to make the right choices in life. Nobody else but you know who you want to become. Your feelings can guide you to that place, yet many people make all their decisions with their minds rather than their souls. Feelings are the language of your soul, therefore it’s wise to trust them.
However there are certain feelings that come as a result of your limiting beliefs or thinking. These are not feelings that come from the soul, but feelings that come from your mind. So you should try to recognise your genuine feelings about the situation and feelings that come from your thinking. In the Conversations With God book God explains how to recognise different kinds of feelings.
There is no such thing as evil. Evil was created by men to gain power over women. However there are undeniably some things that you call bad and which really look like they are evil. Such things exist because without bad things we would not know what good things are. Without cold, you would not know hot, without misery you would not know happiness.
The reason humanity and our universe was created is for the oneness, which is God, to experience itself. Oneness cannot know itself without a reference point outside of itself. And so a seeming separation occurred so that God could experience itself.
In the Conversations With God Volume One God also talks about the way we create our reality. What we resist, persists, what we look through disappears. Therefore you should never resist anything that you don’t like. Simply see it for what it is, bless it and choose something else instead.
If you, however, refuse to accept that you created negative circumstances in your life, you will have no power to change them. So you should accept your creations and bless them. If you call your creations bad, you call yourself bad. That’s disempowering and will certainly not lead you to a good place.
Choose to have other circumstances instead of just wanting them. Because when you want something, you state the lack of it. However if you choose something, you make a request to experience it. Choose it and believe that you have it and you will receive it.
There is nothing in this world that you cannot be or do. You shouldn’t have any fear as to whether you will be judged by God or not. God will never judge you no matter what decisions you will make in life. Your should be aware, however, that you live in the universe governed by the law of cause and effect. This law states that there is a cause for every effect. So every decision you make will have certain consequences.
In the Conversations With God book it’s mentioned that there are many other universal laws that govern this universe. You can become aware of them by being still and listening to your own wisdom. In general, you should interpret life from within rather than without. This means you should see yourself as a cause of everything that happens to you. If you interpret life from without, you will be unhappy. All the unhappiness in the world is caused by people looking for answers and causes outside of themselves. This disempowers people and makes them feel hopeless.
You cause your own experience. You choose what will happen to you by the thoughts you have at present. You may argue that you wouldn’t choose to be hit by a car yet people die this way daily. However it’s still their choice because their thoughts were in harmony with this manifestation. For example, they may often had a thought I hate my life so this thought manifested as an accident. So as you see, there are no victims in this world no matter how much people complain about their misfortunes.
God says that people find it hard to accept the idea of God being all-loving and never punishing. This is because as children we were taught by our parents that it’s hard to succeed and that we should be content with what we have and don’t expect more. We were thought by our churches to fear God and to be obedient servants of God. We were taught by our governments that it’s not enough of everything and that competition is good. Were were taught at schools that we should follow the heard and that creativity should be expressed only along certain fashions and rules. No wonder it’s hard for us to believe that God loves all of us unconditionally and that we are free to behave in any way we choose without any limitations.
We are creative and unlimited beings and God expresses itself through us. We attract not only the things that we love, but also the things that we fear. This is because we attract what we think about. To keep us on the right track, we have our own guidance system, which are feelings. They are our highest truth and they will lead us to where we want to go.
Many people ignore their own feelings and follow gurus or teachers instead without pausing to reflect on how they feel about such leaders. Because they don’t listen to their inner guidance, they make many mistakes and end up somewhere they didn’t plan to go. So only listen to teachers if their teachings resonate with you and the best and fastest way to achieve fulfilment is by listening to your own feelings.
To consciously create your life you should monitor your thoughts because thoughts are creative. If you let them run wild, you will be stuck or you will experience all kinds of things, be it bad or good. So you should change thoughts that are not in alignment with who you are. If, for example, you want to be happy, change unhappy thoughts to happy ones. This will lead you to happiness.
Conversations With God book also mentions the subject of death. God says that nobody dies without agreeing to. Deep inside dying people make the decision to leave this world. Sometimes people don’t tell you that they have chosen to die, so it seems that they die without agreeing to. But that’s never the case.
God also mentions that there are no commandments as we know them. You can choose to do whatever you wish and God will not judge you. In the Conversations With God book, however, God lists ten commitments which you may choose to agree with if you wish. These commitments will lead you to love, peace and happiness.
In the Conversations With God book it is mentioned that we create on three levels. Most people are not aware of these levels therefore they don’t understand how they create their reality. Some people are upset when they experience something very negative and they blame God for not helping. However God cannot create your reality because that would be against your free will. God cannot and will never interfere with your free will because that will make you lower than God.
Most people are unhappy because they don’t get something they want. So it’s better to choose, to prefer something rather than want something. Material possessions will come and go and you should not make them too important because desire for material possessions creates misery.
In Conversations With God, the one concept that people will find it hard to accept is this. God says that you are not responsible for any other souls but your own. So that means you are not responsible for your children, your spouse or your other loved ones. The best gift you can give to your children is to make them independent from you as quickly as possible. You are no blessing to them as long as they need you to survive. In the book God gives detailed advice for those who have children or someone else dependent on them.
For those who realise that they’ve been mislead by churches, parents and other people/institutions, God suggests that they should read the Conversations With God book over and over again until these teachings rewrite their understanding of life. So this advice applies to all who feel unworthy, ashamed, guilty, bad, insignificant or limit themselves in any other way.
For some people it’s hard to believe that it’s possible to live in total joy. They see a minority who do what they love and get paid a lot for it and don’t think that it’s possible for them to experience such life. However the minority of people have what they have because they demand for it. They have higher standards than the masses and therefore refuse to accept less.
In the Conversations With God book God gives very interesting relationship advice that may shock some. In relationships you should only do things to please yourself and not others. Don’t expect anything of others and don’t try to change your behaviour for another person. Say only truth and show your honest feelings. Don’t use others to make you happy or to fill you. Other people are in your life because through them you understand who you are. So it’s all about you and not others. However if you act honestly and truthfully to yourself, other people will be happy. Because what you do to yourself you also do to others because we are all one.
Relationships will always have problems and challenges. Use these as opportunities to express who you really are. Respond to them in a way that reflects your true self. If your partner hurts you, show that to him/her. Don’t limit your partner in any way because any limitations you place upon your partner will make them want to run away from you. Any form of restriction kills your soul because your soul is free in nature.
Conversations With God book says the same about religion. Any limitations imposed on you by religious leaders are not holy. Any limitations imply fear rather than love. God is love and would never impose limitations on anyone.
In Conversations With God there is also written about past lives. God explains that we always choose our next life and that there is no karma as people understand it. He/she also says that past lives exist all at once because in reality there is no time. Time is just an illusion, so is space.
In the Conversations With God book God talks about health. He/she describes what happens to people who drink, eat meat, compete and smoke. God describes the causes of major illnesses and how to significantly improve health almost at once. He/she explains what worry and fear does to our bodies.
God teaches that we are all gods because God created us in the image of himself/herself. Therefore everything is God and you are God. The air you breathe, the table that you see, the flower that you smell, your body everything is of God.
Finally, in Conversations With God it is said that there is no hell as churches picture it. You may call hell the way you feel when you think that all people are separate and you look at the world from without rather than within. You may call hell the feeling you get when you are constantly mislead by teachers who are themselves lost and therefore you feel powerless to change your circumstances. But there is no real hell as we were taught to believe.
Although I’ve written a long summary/review of Conversations With God, there are many more topics I didn’t include. God describes every single topic in a clear and detailed manner, so that the reader would be able to significantly raise his/her awareness levels.
I highly recommend reading Conversations With God book because it will open your eyes to a world full of happiness and possibilities and without any limits. This is by far the best book I have ever read and I hope that you will share this review/recommend this book to those who are still lost.
