Evil Eye – My Experience With This Worldwide Happening

Although as a child I went through many minor illnesses, when I moved out from my parents’ house and went to live in UK, nothing very bad health-wise ever happened to me. Of course I would get an occasional cold or a minor injury like a scratch, but nothing more.

This all changed when I moved to India and started a relationship with an Indian man (now we are in a relationship for 8 months, more about it in my coming book). Jealousy and anger in India is shown without any cover-ups, that I experienced very soon after the start of our dating.

Some called us the perfect couple. Some of my partner’s friends stopped being friends with him, some tried to “win me over” to be theirs. Some made jealous or angry remarks. It was crazy and a far cry from the behaviour of the westerners. Finally his friends accepted the fact that we were together, but we still get jealous or angry looks and occasional remarks from some Indian men (Indian women don’t seem to be bothered about it).

But the worst thing was, both of us started experiencing all kinds of accidents. I nearly drowned one time, I got an ankle sprain and recently we both got painful injuries from a bike accident. He also got one time an almost critical injury to his back, shortly after the start of our relationship. Thanks God all our injuries weren’t permanent and we recovered successfully.

After so many bad accidents I started wondering if I was not obeying the laws of the universe, for that being the fact would explain my bad luck. But having analysed my behaviour all I could find were occasional minor emotional outbursts, which is understandable but nevertheless stupid on my part (I am working on this).

And because of these minor emotional outbursts I would get minor colds or small accidents, which is a normal debt I pay for my disobedience of the laws of the universe. But serious injuries can’t be the result of such small deviations from a path of spirituality.

Then I started thinking that maybe the energy of my partner is causing me all this. But having questioned him and his friends I understood that before meeting me he too had only small injuries and illnesses.

One night I asked God why this was happening to us and I patiently waited for an answer. And the answer came through my friend yogi, whom I always find meditating when I come to visit him.

As always he didn’t fail to surprise me with his wisdom. He told me that our relationship is the source of jealousy for many Indians. People see us enjoying ourselves, and that causes jealousy in many undeveloped minds. And some people, whose only joy in life is sleeping or eating, willingly or unwillingly give us an evil eye which causes our accidents.

That seemed to completely make sense and I decided to research this phenomenon more. And what I’ve found out surprised me indeed – the power of the evil eye is believed in in almost all countries, especially those which didn’t lose touch with their ancient religions and traditions.

In many countries it is believed that the evil eye tends to affect children most, because children are the source of jealousy from childless women and other people. Therefore in different countries children are given different sorts of protection by their parents, be it a prayer, a black ribbon around their wrists or a black dot on their foreheads.

In India, for example, sometimes children are willingly made to look ugly, with black dots on their foreheads and cheeks as well as a heavily drawn eyeliner under their eyes, so that to avoid jealous looks of strangers.

People from different countries protect themselves from the ill effects of the evil eye in many ways. Some add some sort of saying when they believe someone looked at them with jealousy, some eat certain foods which are believed to neutralise the effect of evil looks and some wear some sort of amulet.

I myself got an urge to buy a drishti dosha bracelet, and after 30 minutes of searching the local souvenir shops I managed to get hold of it. I bought it both for myself and my boyfriend, and so far nothing has happened to us. Here’s the picture of it:

This charm, as far as I managed to find out, came from Turkey. It has three bright blue eyes which are believed to reflect the evil intentions of jealous people back to their source. Such eyes are always painted on glass beads. Although this could be a mere superstition, this bracelet straight away put me at ease and as though strengthened my aura.

Ignorance is what causes such bad events to keep happening to people, and I’m glad I kept wondering why so many accidents happened in my and my partner’s lives. As a result I managed to find the cause of them and took an action to prevent further misfortunes.

I think that drishti dosha bracelet indeed creates some kind of protection field around my aura, but this protection field may have come from my belief in the effectiveness of this charm. Also, this charm won’t lift your karma, it will only protect you from external intentions. So you may still get injured or get an illness, because of your past bad deeds.

Now the way evil look does damage to people is this, in my opinion. A person full of jealousy by his look directs his destroying energy into another person’s aura and damages it a bit. The more people or the more often such destructive energy is directed into someone’s aura, the more aura suffers by becoming weaker, less dense.

When the aura is not as strong it’s easy for all kinds of negative entities to attach themselves to it, making the person more susceptible to illnesses and accidents. And when the person starts praying or gets some kind of symbol and he believes that such are the ways to remove the ill effects of jealous people’s looks, this indeed happens. The aura becomes stronger, evil entities detach themselves from it and so it is no longer a magnet to bad luck.

It really surprised me that evil eye can affect even the most innocent people, like children. This was something that challenged my own beliefs, but at the end I feel that this knowledge enriched me and gave me a better understanding of this reality.

There are some typical scenarios in which it’s easy to recognise the works of the evil eye. For example if a self-made person is doing too well, he might suddenly experience some very bad luck and lose it all. This could be because of the evil eye effect.

Or a person really wants to make it in this world, and he is really a good, spiritual person, but it seems that there is no end to the obstacles. Here too evil eye might be the culprit.

A person wins a large amount of money, but then foolishly spends it as though under a spell. Again, this may be something to do with the evil eye.

A lady looking after her sick relative is unable to find a husband. This could be because of an unintentional evil eye of the relative she is looking after.

This list is endless, but I hope you got the point. In any situation evil eye may affect the person.

The biggest sign that you were affected by an evil eye is this. During your life no major accident happened to you. Then at one point in your life you achieved something great or found a perfect partner, or experienced any other such good moment. And after this, although your behaviour didn’t change, you started experiencing big misfortunes.

So if you are obeying the laws of the universe and still experience out of proportion misfortunes, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to say a prayer or buy an accessory to protect you from an evil eye. Or, better still, before any great event comes into your life, protect yourself in advance by getting some form of protection symbol.
