Harmonic Wealth Summary and Review by James Arthur Ray
I read many – many – books. I read a few books at the same time and I finish them within a few days. So when I decide to review some book, it must have made quite a big impression on me.
That happened with the book called “Harmonic Wealth” which was written by James Arthur Ray, one of the teachers from “The Secret” movie.
At first, when I picked up the “Harmonic Wealth” book and started reading it, I thought it was full of hype and the shallow law of attraction stuff that you keep hearing but most of the technical things are not there. I almost gave up on this book and moved on. But fortunately I continued reading it, since it’s quite thick (my copy has 336 pages), so I thought that Maybe I will find something good.
And boy I did. This book seems to me like a lesson that a successful parent gives to his kids. It’s very deep and honest and the more you read it, the deeper it gets. That really fascinated me.
This book is about creating harmony in the five areas of your life, which he calls “Pillars” of your life. So the first area he deals with is finances, then relationships, mind, body and soul.
Thanks God I write down all the good bits that I find in the books, so I will give you some insights from his book that really resonated with me.
Wealth Quotes/Summary of the “Harmonic Wealth” book by James Arthur Ray
1. 85% of self-made millionaires in the world don’t have a university degree. A and B students usually work for the C students. I love that he states these facts because it just shows how widely misunderstood the proper education is. Universities, as James says, are social programming institutions, and I couldn’t agree more. You are simply taught how to fit in and be like everyone else, which equals mediocrity.
2. Learning how to get along with others is invaluable trait to making money. Again, I couldn’t agree more. The more people you know, the more leverage you are likely to have. Learn to get on with others (by eliminating ego and connecting with your core) and you will be way on your way to financial independence. Also, hang around with people of your target market (my advice).
3. “You are never going to be blessed in this universe by being less than your current position demands”. That’s so true. Those employees who keep complaining but do nothing to improve their performance will keep being stuck in the positions they hate, unless they change their attitudes and start creating more value.
4. I like the fact that James talks about valuing your time and only working on things that give you significant return. The way to correctly use your time, he suggests to firstly set your yearly income goal. Once done, work out how many hours a week you want to work and how much your time would be worth per hour if you would earn your goal income.
Once you do this, whenever you are about to take some action, ask yourself if it’s worth the amount of time you want to be worth. If it’s not worth, outsource if possible, or don’t take such action. This is, I would say, one of the best financial advice you could ever get. It’s hard to understand that for some, but if you want to value your time as $100 per hour but you spend your time watching TV or cleaning your home, that simply won’t happen.
James shares his wealth success in this “Harmonic Wealth” paragraph:
I built a multi-million dollar business by constantly hiring great people who:
1. Do the jobs that are not worth me doing
2. Are better at those things than I am
What I would add is this: you don’t need to actually hire people to work full or part-time for you. If you are not ready to take this leap, simply outsource your work – that’s what I do. You will actually save a lot of money outsourcing your work to third world countries and some people from those countries are excellent at what they do.
5. Once you have more time, focus on taking action that will create multiple sources of income. Creating passive income is the best thing you can do for yourself since after the creation of such income sources you no longer need to actively work, the income keeps coming in.
6. Provide 10 times more value than you ask for in return. This statement from the “Harmonic Wealth” book is absolutely correct. When I coach people, for example, I provide much, much more value than I get paid for. Because of that they are grateful and they refer more clients to me. It’s said that if you want to become rich, you should make another person rich and if you want to be loved, you should love another person. That always works in my life and in the lives of people I know.
7. To grow and achieve your dreams, you should take the action that you know will get you closer to your dreams but you don’t feel prepared for it. Once I read this sentence, I had a big “aha” moment. Some of the things that I’m currently doing are very out of my comfort zone and I definitely feel unprepared for them, but once I read this sentence, it confirmed that I’m on the right path.
8. Chaos makes you grow. When there is chaos in your life, be happy because it means you are progressing. When nothing new happens, you are stalling in life.
9. Take six actions every day towards your goals, in order of their importance. This is actually the advice that was given to Charles Schwab and resulted in huge profits of his corporation.
10. Activity does not equal accomplishment. Again, you should pay attention to what action you take: does it push you into the direction of your goals or further away from them?
11. Get in the habit of asking yourself before you do anything: “Could someone else do this for me?” I actually wrote this paragraph down from the “Harmonic Wealth” book into quite a few pages of my diary because these words are so profound.
12. “The more I let go, the more quickly I leap forward”. That’s also a profound sentence. I’ve noticed exactly the same thing in my life. When I cling to something, it’s not going the way I want. When I let go, everything unfolds perfectly.
Relationship Quotes/Summary of the “Harmonic Wealth” book by James Arthur Ray
1. You cannot attract a perfect relationship if you don’t have a perfect relationship with yourself. Fully agree with this one. The more you work on yourself, the better people/partners you will attract in your life.
2. If you keep attracting people with negative qualities, look at similar qualities within yourself. You attract that which you are and you can actually learn a lot by paying attention to what people you have in your life. If you keep attracting partners that are negative, identify their negative qualities and see if you can find the same qualities in yourself.
3. When you identify the negative qualities of your partners, also look what current benefits they give you and learn from this imbalance. For example, if you keep attracting abusive partners, it may mean that you crave to be felt sorry for. Once you identify such need, you can work to resolve it.
4. Appreciate the qualities you see in others to get the partner with such qualities. That’s an interesting piece of information I’ve found out from the Harmonic Wealth book. Basically the author suggests to make a list of the qualities your ideal partner should have and then identify people who already possess such qualities.
For example:
1. Good figure – my sister
2. Beautiful smile – my friend Harry
3. Spirituality – my spiritual teacher
4. Confidence – my best friend
and so on.
Once you make such list, fully appreciate each feature that your friends/relatives possess. This appreciation will attract the person that has all such features, according to James Arthur Ray. I will put this into practice to see if that’s the case:)
5. Become the person who is worthy of your ideal partner. That’s the wisdom that I also became aware of. You simply cannot attract a perfect partner if you are not perfect yourself. And if you see someone in your opinion not worthy of the partner they are with, that simply means that there’s something not right with the energy of a seemingly “perfect” partner, if you know what I mean.
So if you want to attract a partner of a perfect figure, go to the gym to have a perfect figure yourself. If you want to attract a loving partner, learn to love those around you. If you want to have a partner that appreciates you, appreciate your friends and family.
6. Being single and being in a relationship both have their own pluses and minuses. That’s because we have the law of polarity in this world. Universe is like that – you have this but you lack that and if you have that you lack something else. So when you are single, you are free to flirt and do whatever you like. On the downside, you sometimes feel that you need companionship; If you are in a relationship, you feel great to share your life with someone, but you sometimes miss the time completely for yourself.
I haven’t even finished reading the “Harmonic Wealth” book yet and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. I still haven’t read about the mental, physical and spiritual pillars.
I hope that from this summary/review you will understand that this book is simply amazing. I would say that James Arthur Ray put all his wisdom and experience into this beautiful book called “Harmonic Wealth”.
I cannot wait to read the rest of the “Harmonic Wealth” book and I hope that by the time I finish, there will be many more people reading this book because of my recommendation.
“Harmonic Wealth” will inspire you, motivate you and give you enough knowledge to take the big leap forward and start living a truly remarkable life.
I want to express my deep gratitude to James Arthur Ray for this amazing book who came into my life very unexpectedly.
