Top 10 Comedy Movies To Uplift You

In this article I thought I will share with you my top 10 comedy movies.

When you feel down, comedies can really improve your mood. My favourite comedies come in no particular order, but I gave ratings to each one of them for you to know which ones are really worth watching.

I hope you will enjoy these movies!

1.Employee of The Month

Known Actors: Dane Cook, Jessica Simpson

My rating: 10/10

Plot:

Zack Bradley (Dane Cook) works as a box boy in the supermarket. Every month employees of this supermarket strive to win an award of “Employee of the month” so that they would be featured on the wall of fame in the staff lounge.

However Zack never even thought of attempting to win such award until a new staff member Amy (Jessica Simpson) is employed and he finds out that she only dates employees of the month. Suddenly Zack decides to win this award, but he has to face tough competition with Vince, a winner of seventeen consecutive “Employee of the month” awards…
2.How To Lose Friends And Alienate people

Known actors: Simon Pegg, Megan Fox

My rating: 10/10

Plot:

Sidney Young (Simon Pegg) owns a magazine about making fun out of celebrities. He is noticed by Sharps editor and he offers Simon a position within Sharps magazine. The rest of the movie is about Simon rising from an unknown magazine owner to the well-known socialiser. Now when I am reading this description to myself it seems quite boring, but don’t be deceived! It is a very very funny movie!

3.Good Luck Chuck

Known Actors: Dane Cook, Jessica Alba

My rating: 8/10

Plot:

As a young boy Charlie Logan (Dane Cook) was cursed by his schoolmate. Now whenever he dates women they all find their true loves and get married. When Charlie meets a girl that he really likes (Jessica Alba), he becomes paranoid that she will find a man of her dreams. So he becomes overly obsessed about it and tries everything he can to prevent her from meeting her real love.

4.My Best Friend’s Girl

Known Actors: Dane Cook (I know, I know, I really like this actor:), Kate Hudson, Alec Baldwin, Jason Biggs

My rating: 9/10

Plot:

Tank (Dane Cook) is paid to go on dates with women who just split up with their boyfriends. He has to make them so regret having dumped their boyfriends that the women end up getting back to their ex-boyfriends. One day Tank’s roommate hires him to make one girl (Kate Hudson) come back to him. Tank takes on the job but to his surprise he starts falling for that girl.

5.Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Known Actors: Jason Segel, Russel Brand

My rating: 10/10

Plot:

Peter (Jason Segel), an unsuccessful musician, gets dumped by his long-term girlfriend Sarah Marshall, who is a celebrity. He gets really depressed and is forced by his step-brother to go on vacation. Peter chooses Hawaii and when he gets there and arrives at the hotel, he cannot believe to see his ex staying in the same place with her new boyfriend.

6.Click

Known Actors: Adam Sandler, Christopher Walken

My rating: 7/10

Plot:

Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) is a workaholic who cannot wait to be promoted. He spends almost all his time at work and when he gets home all he wants to do is relax.

One day he gets very frustrated with all the remote controls that he has, because he cannot find the remote control for a TV. So he goes to the store to get the remote that could control every electric device in his home. He finally gets the remote that can control everything – even his own life.

When he finds out the power of this remote he becomes overly excited and starts fast-forwarding everything he does not like – arguments with his wife, relatives’ gatherings and even the time gap until his promotion. When his life starts skipping in leaps, he realises that he is in big trouble.

This movie is not even funny, but quite deep too. It makes you think about how you spend your time, are you just fast-forwarding your life, or are you enjoying every moment of it?

7.Napoleon Dynamite

Known Actors: Jon Heder

My rating: 5/10

Plot:

I absolutely loved the scene where Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder) starts dancing at school. It is so funny, you have to watch this movie only for this scene! The rest of the movie was a bit boring for me, but it is still worth watching. It is one of those movies that you either love or hate.

Here is the dance scene from one of his performances for you to enjoy (he starts dancing from 1:27):

8.The Simpsons Movie

My rating: 7/10

Plot:

Homer pollutes the lake in his town thanks to his newly adopted pet (pig) causing a dome to be put over Springfield. Simpsons manage to escape just in time and move to Alaska, but when they hear that Springfield will be destroyed due to the pollution, the Simpsons family decide to rescue their home town.

9.Get Smart

Known Actors: Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson

My rating: 6/10

Plot:

Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) finally gets promoted to his dream job – as an agent 86 in the capacity of a spy. He is assigned to work with an agent 99 (Anne Hathaway), who is a real pro. Maxwell is very convinced that he knows everything about the job, but his underestimation of his abilities gets both of them in many troubles.

10.The Happening

Known Actors: Mark Wahlberg

My rating: 5/10

Plot:

For me this movie was extremely funny. However it is not a comedy, it was supposed to be a horror movie. But it was so silly that you cannot help but laugh. The plot itself is something you can laugh from.

The movie is about the nature that turned against people and if they move in certain areas they die. I watched this movie in the cinema and some people walked out because they expected something scary, but others laughed and stayed till the end. So you might find it really boring or you might find it really funny.

Additional comedies:

The Hangover 9/10
